The Biology Unit was organized in May 1951 and is the largest group - to our knowledge - dedicated to the international cooperative study of biological postage stamps and related material. It is a nonprofit organization and dues are based on cost of operations, chiefly the production and mailing of Biophilately. This journal averages 50 pages per issue, covering the new ZOOLOGICAL and BOTANICAL issues of the world, identified and classified to the best of our ability. Our membership includes many professional persons in the zoological and botanical fields who share their expertise in the interest of increasing our knowledge, as well as many amateurs who give their time so this knowledge is kept current.

All members are encouraged to contribute articles and checklists on various biological subjects for publication. Many of our members have contributed to Biophilately and to Topical Time, and have also been responsible for ATA Handbooks.
